It reached its highest demand (nearly 150x the average movie) only after it became available on streaming, helping to extend its longevity far beyond its theatrical window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This mirrors what we saw in 2022 with \u201cEverything Everywhere All at Once,\u201d which also successfully navigated a risky spring release. \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once\u201d reached its peak demand only after winning the Oscar for Best Picture, nearly a year after it premiered. This late surge in audience attention translated directly into a revenue bump for streamers. We calculate that in the first quarter and second quarter of 2023, following its big win, \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once\u201d delivered nearly $6 million in streaming subscriber revenue globally on platforms where it was available. For a movie like \u201cSinners,\u201d awards season could act as the exact same catalyst, igniting another wave of incremental revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lack of Oscar nominations does not signify a failure for a massive IP property. With \u201cWicked: For Good,\u201d the performance of the franchise ecosystem is more important than a single film\u2019s awards haul. We\u2019ve already measured that starting to play out. Our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.parrotanalytics.com\/products\/streaming-economics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Streaming Economics<\/a>\u00a0model calculates that \u201cThe Wizard of Oz\u201d generated an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/wicked-wizard-of-oz-streaming-revenue-hbo-max\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">additional $2M in streaming revenue<\/a>\u00a0following the premiere of \u201cWicked.\u201d This illustrates the complicated franchise calculus at play when a legacy title can drive incremental value without new production or marketing costs, effectively reducing the risk of the broader investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With high-profile contenders like \u201cSinners\u201d and \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once,\u201d we can see the autumn sprint to the Oscars is losing its monopoly.
