Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton put out a public call to Congress and elected Republicans during a wide-ranging interview on Monday’s edition of “Morning Joe” urging them to rein in President Trump before he becomes “more reckless” and causes “irreparable damage.”

“He’s found the joy of ordering our military to go do things that give him a lot of dopamine, I guess, when he’s in the Situation Room watching them take out Maduro from Venezuela or attack Iran,” Clinton told “Morning Joe” hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough about the president. “I just worry that he’s going to become more reckless.”

“This is a call to Congress, including the Republicans, to step up and do your Constitutional duty,” Clinton continued. “Rein in this president before he causes absolutely irreparable damage to our country, to our military standing, to our authority and leadership. Do not let him continue to be a rogue player in the international arena, because I fear he will get more reckless.”

While Clinton said she supported Trump’s bombing strikes on Iran last year, she slammed his current, “incoherent” war against the Middle East country.

“We’re in a situation now where we are weak, where we essentially have lost the leverage and initiative that we had,” Clinton explained, referencing Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz. “I worry that the United States is now in a very weak position vis-a-vis Iran, which should be the outlier, should be on the back foot and should be the one held to account.”

You can watch the full “Morning Joe” segment yourself below.

During her “Morning Joe” interview this week, Clinton also condemned Trump’s “unhinged” threats against Iran last week, which drew backlash from prominent members of both the Left and the Right. The former Secretary of State said that it is up to Americans and their elected representatives to hold leaders accountable “for what they say as well as what they do.”

“Words, especially from an American president, have real consequences, and when you look at the last week of unhinged rants coming from Trump’s social media account, it’s just disgraceful,” Clinton said. “Accountability is a very broad concept. It’s not just about holding people accountable for the crimes that they’ve committed, maybe the bribes that they’ve taken, the kind of unaccountable power they’ve exercised. It’s also about holding them to a standard.”

“It’s not just about the laws we pass, but the norms that we follow, all of which have been broken by this president,” Clinton continued. “I read those [posts] like, I think, I hope the majority of Americans, both shaking my head and really just feeling sick at heart that we have a president who is such a disgrace.”

‘SNL’ Cold Open Roasts Melania’s ‘Insane’ Epstein Press Conference: ‘Make Everyone Way More Suspicious’ | Video https://www.thewrap.com/creative-content/tv-shows/snl-cold-open-trump-melania-epstein-press-conference-iran-war-video/ Sun, 12 Apr 2026 03:51:10 +0000 https://www.thewrap.com/?p=7998482 James Austin Johnson’s President Trump wants to let Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt know that, like Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi, she’s doing a “terrific job”

President Trump took and fielded calls from Tiger Woods, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and First Lady Melania Trump in tonight’s “Saturday Night Live” cold open, in which he warned his wife that her “insane” press conference about the Epstein Files might just make “everyone way more suspicious.”

“Who’s this? I don’t recognize the number,” James Austin Johnson’s Trump asked as his phone rang in the cold open. He was then surprised to discover the unknown caller was the first lady herself (played by Chloe Fineman). “You’re calling me? That’s not a good sign,” Johnson’s Trump joked, and things did not get any better when she told him she wanted to host a press conference denying all ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

“Uh, darling, I gotta admit, this sounds a little insane,” Johnson’s Trump told his wife, before asking, “Who are you? Me?” The first lady surprised the president again when she said she did not want to just stop with Epstein.

“I thought I could also say, ‘I, Melania Trump, in no way, helped out the Gilgo Beach serial killer.’ That way no one is suspicious,” Fineman’s Melania pitched, to which Johnson’s unsettled Trump replied, “Darling, I think that’s gonna make everyone way more suspicious.”

Undeterred, Fineman’s first lady alternatively offered, “What if I announce I barely partied with Diddy? Would that help?” You can watch tonight’s “SNL” cold open yourself below.

The cold open itself began with Johnson’s Trump drafting his widely condemned Easter Sunday threat to Iran with the help of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt (Ashley Padilla). Even Leavitt ended up expressing some concern about him ending his Truth Social threat with, “Praise be to Allah.”

“It’s a sarcastic attack on the world’s largest religion. They famously have a great sense of humor about that kind of stuff,” Johnson’s Trump explained. In response, Padilla’s Leavitt told the president, “As your press secretary, this puts me in a tough position, sir.” Trump chose to comfort Leavitt by telling her that, like ousted former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, she’s doing a “terrific job.”

As Padilla’s Leavitt walked away, Johnson’s Trump broke the “SNL” fourth wall, telling viewers, “All three of those [women] were played by Ashley. It’s an interesting detail.” The president then called Tiger Woods (Kenan Thompson), who relayed that he had checked himself into a rehab facility in Switzerland after his recent DUI car crash and, much to Trump’s annoyance, did not have any time to golf soon.

Johnson’s Trump ended the “SNL” cold open by calling Colin Jost’s Pete Hegseth, who asked him if he was really negotiating with the Iranians. “Don’t worry about the negotiations. I just heard they’re going really, really bad,” the president said. “I sent in my secret weapon, [Vice President] JD Vance. After those Iranians spent 20 hours talking to JD, they said, ‘Please sir, just go back to bombing us.'”

“Keep up the good work,” Johnson’s Trump subsequently told Jost’s Hegseth. “If you think of a good reason why we went to war, could you let me know?”

Fox Entertainment CEO Claps Back at Vertical Dramas’ Bad Rap and Looks to the Future With Dhar Mann | Video https://www.thewrap.com/media-platforms/streaming/fox-entertainment-ceo-rob-wade-dhar-mann-vertical-shorts-interview/ Fri, 10 Apr 2026 23:59:48 +0000 https://www.thewrap.com/?p=7998138 Creators x Hollywood 2026: "The numbers speak for themselves – this isn't 'the next thing.' This is already an $8 billion global industry," Mann says in conversation with Rob Wade

The post Fox Entertainment CEO Claps Back at Vertical Dramas’ Bad Rap and Looks to the Future With Dhar Mann | Video appeared first on TheWrap.

]]>
Even in today’s ever-shifting Hollywood landscape, the vertical microdramas business doesn’t always get the respect it deserves. Fox Entertainment and Dhar Mann are here to change that.

“Shorter form narrative storytelling gets negative press. I think some of that is defensive. I think it’s from a lack of understanding,” Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said during TheWrap’s Creators x Hollywood Summit, held Wednesday in partnership with Whalar and The Lighthouse in Venice Beach, Calif.

“But those who are more open-minded and really see the potential are now embracing short-form storytelling, and that’s certainly us at Fox,” Wade added, admitting that “Hollywood isn’t always known to move quickly” when it comes to upstart forms of entertainment.

That open-mindedness is what paved the way for a successful, self-starter creator like Dhar Mann Studios founder Dhar Mann to partner with Fox Entertainment earlier this year on a 40-title deal to expand its microdramas slate.

“Fox moves quickly,” Mann said, detailing his first meeting with Wade on Christmas Day before sealing the lucrative deal just two months later.

“I think the numbers speak for themselves — this isn’t ‘the next thing,'” Mann said. “This is already an $8 billion global industry. It’s set to double in the next five years, and it makes sense — 75% of users currently are already watching videos on mobile.”

Joining Wade and Fox Entertainments SVP of Operations and Strategy Tony Vassiliadis for TheWrap’s “The Next Wave of Short-Form Storytelling” panel, Mann broke down why vertical dramas are the perfect blend of long-form dramatic heft — “Long-form, I still think, is king,” he said — and the need for quick bites of immediate satisfaction from a scrolling audience.

“It really combines the best of both worlds,” Mann said. “Our storytelling, from a traditional standpoint, starts with some sort of inciting incident, then you have rising conflict, you have climax, you have some sort of turn, and then there’s resolution. That’s the classic story arc. Now with vertical dramas, you have one minute. So you don’t have time for that. It’s setup-twist-cliffhanger, setup-twist-cliffhanger all within a minute. So you’re almost telling a complete story and then leaving room for the audience to want to get to the next episode while still building character arcs and story arcs over the whole 90-minute full episode or series.”

Of Fox Entertainment’s investment in short-form storytelling, Vassiliadis said that he values the ability to act with the muscle and practiced industry know-how of a studio while entrusting creators like Mann to merge those capabilities with what’s previously worked for the art form.

“That’s what’s been most exciting for me, is even as we have creators and writers come and talk to our team about what could be and actually thinking, ‘OK, how do we actually learn from what has worked elsewhere and not think that Hollywood has all the answers?'” the SVP said. “But by incorporating what we’re seeing in the world at large in vertical storytelling, there’s a way to actually move things forward.”

Watch the full “The Next Wave of Short-Form Storytelling” panel, moderated by TheWrap senior reporter Kayla Cobb, in the video above.

Remember “The Hunger Games?” The newest teaser for “Sunrise on the Reaping” wants you to.

The 30-second trailer, shared on Friday, compares actors from the original “Hunger Games” four-movie series with the new faces taking over their parts in “Sunrise on the Reaping,” a prequel set during the 50th annual games. As faces like Elizabeth Banks’ and Philip Seymour Hoffman’s fade into Elle Fanning’s and Jesse Plemons’, various characters from the “Hunger Games” series each say the word “remember.” You can watch the trailer below.

The trailer continues cutting through footage of the original four films, sharing brief glimpses of “Sunrise on the Reaping” ahead of its November release. After showing Ralph Fiennes take over as President Snow (a role previously played by Donald Sutherland and Tom Blyth), the teaser cycles through a series of iconic “Hunger Games” shots before ending on footage of Woody Harrelson and Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy.

“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” is based on the prequel novel “Sunrise on the Reaping,” written by “Hunger Games” scribe Suzanne Collins in 2025. The dystopian book focuses on the 50th Hunger Games, or the second Quarter Quell, which saw double the usual 24 tributes enter the deadly games. One of those 48 tributes was Haymitch Abernathy, who would become a mentor to Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) 24 years later.

Lawrence and Hutcherson will both appear in the film, marking the first time they’ve played these characters since 2015’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.” Also in the cast are Mckenna Grace, Ben Wang, Maya Hawke, Kieran Culkin, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Glenn Close, Billy Porter and Lili Taylor, among others. Francis Lawrence directed the film, while Billy Ray wrote the adapted screenplay.

“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” releases in theaters on Nov. 20, 2026.

MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” called out President Trump Friday morning for only showing a willingness to criticize divisive right-wing media figures like Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens and Alex Jones after they have turned on him, rather than for their own, “outlandish” views.

Trump went on a lengthy Truth Social tirade against Kelly, Carlson, Jones and Owens Thursday, calling them “losers” and “nut jobs,” after they all outright condemned his threats against Iran this week. Owens, for her part, went so far as to demand that the 25th Amendment be invoked to remove Trump from power.

In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote of the four, “They’re not ‘MAGA,’ they’re losers, just trying to latch on to MAGA.” Speaking on Friday’s edition of “Morning Joe,” The Dispatch Senior Writer David Drucker took issue with Trump’s selective outrage against his more divisive, on-again, off-again supporters.

“It’s all personal, right? He didn’t criticize Owens or Tucker Carlson or Megyn Kelly for stoking antisemitism, for being antisemitic in Owens’ case for sure,” Drucker observed. “It’s all because they’re angry at him. It’s all because they’re criticizing him.”

“He’s brought figures like this along with him and he’s accommodated their sometimes very outlandish, wacky views and never said that it wasn’t welcome within the party,” Drucker added. “But when they turn on him, now they’re idiots who are not welcome in the party.”

You can watch the full “Morning Joe” segment yourself below.

Drucker argued that the divide between Trump and some of the Right’s biggest online podcasters and media figures has revealed that the president’s original, self-identifying MAGA supporters have never been podcast listeners.

“I don’t think that things have really changed politically vis-a-vis support for the war among Republican voters,” Drucker said. “I still think the president has the broad support of Republican voters and particularly voters who self-identify as MAGA. But I think one of the things we’re learning is that voters that self-identify as MAGA aren’t necessarily a podcast listener [like the ones] that were so crucial to the president’s reelection in 2024.”

Politico Senior Political Columnist Jonathan Martin, meanwhile, told “Morning Joe” viewers Friday that Trump is at risk of losing both extreme sides of the Republican Party in the coming months.

“The factions on the either extreme of the party, so the Alex Jones on one front, the real ‘winger,’ as they would say — conspiratorial types — are dissatisfied with Trump because of the Iran decision,” Martin explained. “Then you’ve got the other extreme of the party, which is the pre-Trump party. Never liked him in the first place. Finds his conduct really embarrassing, but basically has sort of grinned and beared it.”

“I think he’s at risk of losing those two factions this fall,” Martin concluded. “In part because they will stay home on one hand, and also some of them will just vote for a Democrat to send a message this fall, and that’s a big challenge for the Republican Party.”

‘Morning Joe’ Questions Melania Trump’s ‘Beyond Bizarre’ Epstein Press Conference | Video https://www.thewrap.com/media-platforms/politics/morning-joe-melania-trump-epstein-press-conference-reaction/ Fri, 10 Apr 2026 15:32:11 +0000 https://www.thewrap.com/?p=7997739 "Everybody's waiting for another shoe to drop. The hosts of MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” questioned First Lady Melania Trump’s “beyond bizarre” decision to host a press conference Thursday denying her alleged ties to deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his infamous accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.

“It was just beyond bizarre, and all of the reporting is that the people that were in the White House Briefing Room yesterday were just absolutely stunned,” host Joe Scarborough said Friday morning. “Stunned, in part, that it came out of nowhere. And secondly, that she would actually pretend that she didn’t know who [Epstein] was or that she had no relationship with him or they had no close relationship with him.”

During the press conference, Melania denounced the “lies” that have linked her to Epstein and Maxwell, categorizing a released email she sent to the latter in 2003 as “casual.” The First Lady also called on Congress to grant Epstein’s survivors a public hearing about the crimes committed against them. Scarborough, for his part, pushed back on her categorization of the email to Maxwell.

“It doesn’t sound casual,” he argued. “Everybody’s waiting for another shoe to drop. I don’t know if it will or not. But again, the timing of that was so strange, especially bringing up something that obviously the president doesn’t want brought up and calling for hearings. That’s just the opposite of what the president has been talking about for months.”

Fellow MS NOW anchor Jacqueline Alemany further discussed the press conference on the morning show, revealing that she spoke with President Donald Trump afterward.

“I asked him if he was aware of the substance of Melania Trump’s statement prior to her delivering it. He said he didn’t know anything about it,” Alemany revealed. “The president, though, did obviously catch what she said after the fact and, before he hung up, he said he was in the middle of a meeting on the war in Iran. He added that ‘she didn’t know him,’ referring to Jeffrey Epstein.”

“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski, meanwhile, noted that the First Lady’s surprise press conference was just part of a “barrage of bad news” for the president on Thursday.

“Iran says the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and it is demanding tolls for ships that pass through. That move is in response to Israel launching deadly strikes on Lebanon, which Iran maintains violated terms of the ceasefire agreement,” Brzezinski explained. “Here at home, new data released yesterday showed the U.S. economy grew at a slower pace in the 4th quarter than previously estimated.”

How Web Comics Are Tapping New Talent and Building Fandoms More Easily for Big Screen Adaptations https://www.thewrap.com/industry-news/business/web-comics-creators-adaptations-hollywood/ Fri, 10 Apr 2026 14:30:00 +0000 https://www.thewrap.com/?p=7997073 Creators x Hollywood 2026: TheWrap speaks to Yongsoo Kim, Jessica Ramsden and Sam Register about how webcomics are shaping the future

The post How Web Comics Are Tapping New Talent and Building Fandoms More Easily for Big Screen Adaptations appeared first on TheWrap.

]]>
As adaptations continue to be ripe fruit for Hollywood studios, a new wealth of source material is emerging in that realm: web comics. And they’re coming with built-in fandoms, thanks to the interactive nature of the medium.

Speaking at The Wrap’s Creators x Hollywood, in partnership with Whalar and The Lighthouse, on Wednesday, Webtoon Entertainment president Yongsoo Kim noted that there is change happening in the comic world, for the better.

“We are seeing a shift in where great stories start,” he said at the half-day summit exploring the intersection of creators, culture and the entertainment industry. “They originally started mostly from starting inside traditional publisher or studios, but today, we are seeing more and more coming from individual creators, digitally, online.”

Speaking on the “How Creators Are Building Multimedia Universes” panel, presented by Webtoon, alongside creator Jessica Ramsden and Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios & Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, Kim added that webcomics are quickly building their own legions of fans, simply because they adapted to the consumer habits of Gen Z.

“Today’s fandom grew with storytelling on their mobile and it is almost second nature to them,” he explained. “Webcomic contents are serialized and social, so our fans keep revisiting our app to check how the story develops, and relationship with characters, and community on platform is developing. Then over time, users realize that ‘I want to check the next episode’ and build a habit of returning to our platform.”

As those readers return, Register noted, they’re also developing direct relationships with the creators themselves, which is proving to be an exciting shift on his side of things.

“There is the relationship between the author and the audience that I do not have in traditional animation,” he said. “So after I’ve greenlit an episode, made it, produced it, gave it to the network, it’s 18 months from beginning to end, and it’s out there, and either the fans are going to be happy with our decision or not happy with our decision, but there’s a lot more going in. And I think what’s great about digital is, the author and the audience, they are seeing that reaction immediately.”

“What’s great about digital and being able to publish that quickly is that reaction is so fast, people can pivot quicker,” Register continued. “And so me, as a studio, when I’m looking at that stuff, I’m looking at something that has been crafted along the way, because that relationship and that immediate reaction is so gratifying.”

Ramsden readily agreed, noting that while she keeps a buffer between herself and those reactions — she’s generally about six months ahead in her stories — the immediacy of them proves beneficial.

“If I can see, ‘Oh, they really love this character, OK,’ I can think of a storyline where I can add them more, where I can have more of that really positive interaction, more of that positive representation,” she said. “So it is really nice to be able to kind of get that instant gratification.”

Now, Warner Brothers Animation and Webtoon are partnering for 10 new series based on web comics, spanning across genres including action, fantasy and romance, according to Kim.

“What is exciting is that these stories already have a blueprint, like global audience fandom and millions of global page views, which make them really compelling for adaptation,” he said.

TheWrap’s Creators x Hollywood Summit is an invite-only gathering of the top creators, entertainment leaders and brand partners who are shaping the future of storytelling and the new entertainment economy.

The event is presented in partnership with global creator agency Whalar and The Lighthouse, both part of the Whalar Group. It is sponsored by City National Bank, Fox Entertainment, Lionsgate, Loeb & Loeb LLP and WEBTOON.

The post NFL Partnerships With Content Creators Are a Win-Win for Fans and Execs: ‘Give These Guys What They Need’ | Video appeared first on TheWrap.

The NFL’s continued emphasis on partnerships with content creators represents a win-win for both the league and creators.

At The Wrap’s Creators x Hollywood, in partnership with Whalar and The Lighthouse, the NFL’s Global SVP of Social, Creator & Content Marketing Ian Trombetta and creators Adam Waheed – who creates videos under Adam W – and Ross Smith spoke to the access the league affords creators and how this closer content serves as a win-win for consumers and the NFL.

Speaking on the “The New Playmakers: Creators Shaping the Future of Sports Fandoms” panel, Waheed admitted that he was shocked to receive the opportunity to work directly with the NFL as a creator — “No f–king way I get to work with the NFL, this is amazing!” — but added that it’s “one of the smartest things” the league does to bring it a step above other professional sports organizations.

“I think one of the smartest things the NFL does, and why they’re far past any other sports league, is they really embrace and know what’s going on in the culture of social media,” Waheed said, “where a lot of other companies and leagues, they think they know, but Ian and a lot of the guys on the team actually know what’s culturally relevant on the platforms. That makes all the difference.”

For Trombetta, it comes down to how freely the NFL gives creators access. Thanks to that open access, he thinks it leads naturally to stronger content that ultimately gets seen by more people. It’s been a mutually beneficial investment that has continued to grow as more teams see and reap the benefits of these creators.

“I think for us, one of the big changes that we had – again, give credit to commissioner and all the way down – but the amount of access that we’re able to give these guys now and opportunities to really shine has grown so much,” Trombetta said. “And the clubs also have to get invested in that, and they see the value. They see the output and what the returns are. So that’s also for us the real currency to give these guys what they need from a content and access perspective.”

And it isn’t just rabid fans of the NFL who are enjoying the benefits of seeing their favorite players, coaches and venues from new angles. A major advantage of this partnership has been in welcoming new fans to the sport. Waheed pointed out how many of his viewers were not originally football fans.

“I love the NFL, I know everything about it, but my audience doesn’t, there are a lot of people who don’t watch football who are maybe introduced to it for the first time through my channel, which really expands the game,” he explained. “And in the same sense, someone in that household might watch football, but the kid or the mom or the sister or whoever in the household might not watch it, and they get introduced to the game through that lens.”

Trombetta later added that a focus on younger fans and women were another focus for the NFL – and creators were a big part of that. He pointed to Waheed, Smith and even famous faces like Taylor Swift as figures who continue to grow the league to new demographics and keep them the biggest sport in the U.S.

“When we start looking at Adam’s audience, or Ross’ audience, guarantee you the majority of them are under 35 or even under 24. That’s very complimentary to what we’re trying to do,” he said. “And then you think about other creators that we’re working with that might have a huge Latino following or huge female following, and that brings those fans closer to us in different ways.

“So you know, you think about probably the biggest influencer, Taylor Swift, and there’s been a lot of talk about what Taylor’s done for the NFL. Our fan base is almost now 50% women, which is awesome.”

“Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski called out elected Republicans Thursday morning over their silence in response to President Trump‘s widely condemned threats against Iran this week, asking, “Do you even exist?”

“Where have the Republicans been during this whole, ‘I’m going to decimate a civilization’?” Brzezinski asked Thursday. Her question was in reference to a Truth Social post made by Trump earlier this week, in which he threatened “a whole civilization will die tonight.” The post was condemned by members of both sides of the political aisle, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and former, once-proud MAGA politician Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“Let’s just say what should be said at a moment like this. When a president says something like that, you have to wonder about the stability of the individual and whether it is safe and whether what is being said applies to the Constitution or is actually a war crime,” Brzezinski continued. “Republicans, this was a moment to do your job. Where were you?”

“Where are you? Do you even exist? Are you that pathetic? Do you love him too unconditionally to the point where you put everything behind you and only have him in front of you like he’s some sort of deity? Is that where we are?” the MS NOW anchor inquired. Her questions prompted “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough to note, “That’s a fair question to ask.”

You can watch the full “Morning Joe” segment yourself below.

Brzezinski’s rant against Republicans was not over yet. The “Morning Joe” host went on to further question Trump’s political allies about their ability to stand up to him the way Greene and other, often Right-leaning outlets and online pundits did in the wake of his Truth Social post Tuesday morning.

“You can’t even say what’s right when he threatens to decimate a civilization?” Brzezinski asked, before telling Republicans directly, “Do you want to know what I have to say? I feel bad for you. Because, at this point, you have Trump-adjacent and Trump-supporting platforms that usually, quite frankly, are right there with you who are pushing back.”

“[They were] vehemently cutting down what was wrong about what happened over the past few days,” Brzezinski added. “Actually saying what needed to be said. Saying what you can’t say.”

As always, things are heating up on “The Pitt” — and even Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) is starting to get worried.

In an exclusive sneak peek of “The Pitt” Season 2, Episode 14 (“8:00 P.M.”) shared with TheWrap, the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s charge nurse tells Dr. Jack Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) that she’s worried for his fellow attending, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle). Dana’s concern comes after two explosive confrontations with Robby in back-to-back episodes after he’s exhibited increasingly concerning behavior throughout the show’s second season.

“I’m sad or scared or some f–king thing,” Dana says. “I’m worried.”

“What’s going on?” Abbot asks.

“Robby. I’ve got a bad feeling,” Dana responds. “It’s like I’m never gonna see him again after tonight.”

With only two hours left in the season (and Robby’s regular shift already over), the clock is ticking closer and closer to a three-month sabbatical for the Pitt’s senior attending. “The Pitt’s” second season takes place on the Fourth of July, which also happens to be the last day before Robby drives off on his motorcycle alone for a multi-month break.

But Robby has hardly been able to hide a deteriorating mental state as the season has progressed. The maverick doctor is getting increasingly testy, with frequent outbursts and confrontations among the rest of his staff. In quieter moments, Robby has dropped concerning hints that he might not return from this temporary vacation.

At the end of the previous episode, “7:00 P.M.,” Dana implored Robby to walk away, to go home and start his trip before things spiral further out of control. The pair had another argument following their big fight at the end of “6:00 P.M.,” one where Robby suddenly reveals that his mother left him when he was young (something not even Dana knew). He then leaves the charge nurse with one final bombshell before walking away in tears.

“What if I don’t come back?” he asks before the episode fades to black.

“8:00 P.M.” is directed by Uta Briesewitz and written by Noah Wyle. The episode airs Thursday night at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on HBO Max.
